The first time I used this lock, I brought only one key, and it was the one with a light in it. Well, when I turned the key to unlock the bikes, the plastic head of the key cracked and broke off! I was several kilometers out of the city and it was quite an ordeal to find pliers or something to turn the straight metal key without a head. Now I know why they provide 3 keys with this lock!
Fortunately I had a second lock with us so we didn't have to cut our cycling tour short. I've tested the other keys in this lock and they seem to work fine, but I'm a bit skeptical. I do like that the lock is long enough to lock two bikes, but for now I will only use it when I'm with someone whose bike is locked separately so they can ride for help if the other two keys break. I will also always take two keys with me. This may have been a freak situation, but it really sucked!
